Indoor vs outdoor — which do you need?
Indoor cameras (like the Tapo C200) are not weatherproof. For balconies, entrances, and car parking, buy an IP66-rated outdoor camera. Indoor models cost ₹1,500–4,000; outdoor models ₹3,000–8,000.
Do you need a subscription for cloud storage?
Most budget cameras (TP-Link Tapo, Imou) support local microSD storage — your footage stays on-device, no monthly fee. Cloud storage subscriptions cost ₹200–500/month for 30-day history. Local storage is always our recommendation for Indian buyers.
2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz Wi-Fi
Almost all budget cameras use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for better range through walls. Make sure your router's 2.4 GHz band is enabled (it is by default on most Indian ISP routers). 5 GHz cameras are faster but have shorter range.
